A clear path home.

Attach a hostname with a CNAME to attach.fastdognetworks.com. Keep your DNS; run an agent beside your origin.

01 / Request path

Follow the request.

Customer DNS points the hostname to FastDog. The edge terminates HTTPS, then forwards the request through the tunnel to your origin.

  1. Customer DNSCNAME
  2. attach.fastdognetworks.comHostname attach target
  3. Edge terminates TLSCaddy · Let’s Encrypt via HTTP-01
  4. fastdog-edge proxyRoutes the hostname
  5. Outbound WebSocket tunnelThe agent opens the connection to the edge; requests travel back through it.

02 / Setup

From attach to HTTPS.

  1. Attach hostname

Tell us the hostname and where your origin runs. We create the hostname attachment.

  2. Add CNAME

At your current DNS host, point the subdomain to attach.fastdognetworks.com.

  3. Verify

We verify the DNS record before issuing the agent credential.

  4. Run agent

The agent connects outbound to the edge over a WebSocket tunnel and forwards requests to your origin.

  5. HTTPS live

In Phase 1, TLS setup on the edge is operator-assisted: we configure Caddy for your verified hostname. Caddy obtains a Let’s Encrypt certificate via HTTP-01.

03 / DNS choices

Keep your zone where it is.

Hostname attach needs a CNAME, not a nameserver move. Full-zone delegation to ns1.fastdognetworks.com and ns2.fastdognetworks.com is optional if you want FastDog authoritative DNS.

Apex domains cannot be a CNAME. Use a subdomain, or ask about ALIAS/ANAME if you need the root.

Example recordapp.yourdomain.com. CNAME attach.fastdognetworks.com.
04 / What you keep

What you keep control of.

  • Your registrar and your DNS

Attach uses one CNAME at your current DNS host. Your domain stays registered where it is, and your other records stay as they are.

  • Your app and its ports

Your service keeps running where it runs. The agent connects out to the edge, so you don't open inbound ports for it.

  • Detach any time

Remove the CNAME and traffic for that hostname stops coming to FastDog. Tell us, and we remove the hostname and its agent credential on our side.

  • Only the hostname's edge

FastDog handles TLS, the proxy, and the tunnel for the hostnames you attach.
